'Perfect Days' (PG rated) - Chippenham Film Club December 2025 Screening

Chippenham Film Club brings films to the town at the Reel Cinema each month that would not normally be seen here on the big screen. Anyone can buy tickets and attend but an annual membership gives a 35% discount off the price of all club screenings.

December's Film Club screening is 'Perfect Days' which is a 2023 drama film directed by Wim Wenders from a script written by Wenders and Takuma Takasaki. A co-production between Japan and Germany, the film follows the routine life of Hirayama (Kōji Yakusho), a reserved, kind-hearted Tokyo toilet cleaner, who finds beauty in the ordinary.

'Perfect Days' premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, where it competed for the Palme d’Or and won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury and the Best Actor Award for Kōji Yakusho.

It was nominated for the Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards, becoming the first film directed by a non-Japanese filmmaker to be nominated as the Japanese entry.
