The Friends of St John’s are honoured to present a Poetry Evening with two leading Welsh Poets, Rowan Williams and Gwyneth Lewis. Rowan is the former Archbishop of Canterbury and Gwyneth was the inaugural National Poet of Wales. They will be reading from their published poetry and will be in conversation with one another.
(Please note the evening will be held in English)
Refreshments and a bookstall will be available and all proceeds will be invested in the fabric and facilities of The Church.
Rowan Williams
Rowan Williams is Master of Magdalene College Cambridge and was formerly Archbishop of Wales and from 2002 to 2012 Archbishop of Canterbury. He is known internationally as an outstanding and charismatic scholar and teacher. His thinking and writings go to the heart of society's current spiritual and social needs.

Gwyneth Lewis
Gwyneth Lewis was Wales's National Poet from 2005-06, the first writer to be given the Welsh laureateship. She has published eight books of poetry in Welsh and English.
