Rig 8 Tour
Funke and the Two Tone Baby hits the road this October and November for the Rig 8 Tour. 10 shows across England showcasing his latest musical explorations, before hitting the studio to record album No. 5. Over the last decade, Funke’s sound has grown and evolved alongside the musical machine he uses to create it. Unveiling the 8th iteration of his gigging rig promises yet another levelling up. The beats have got wider, the sound has got larger, and the processes are more refined. Leaning heavier into electronica with a Dance and Funk vibe, Rig 8 adds sequencing, electric guitar, cut-up vocal hooks, punchy bass-lines, warm synths and crispy glitches. All tied together with Funke’s endless reserves of energy. The tour starts in Funke’s new hometown of Durham and takes in the world music event of MusicPort Festival, Whitby and York’s punk all-dayer One For the Road, as well as some of Funke’s favourite independent venues. The progression between records has always been vast, and Album No. 5 will continue this growth. This tour is a chance to catch the formative experiments and first airings of tracks from the new LP. Not to be missed. Support tbc
Funke And The Two Tone Baby
Kent-based mechanical alt-blues band 'Funke & the Two Tone Baby' is the pseudonym of multi-instrumentalist Dan Turnbull. Described as creating ‘new, exciting and innovative music’ (R2 Magazine), in two years Funke has gone from pub gigs in Margate to performing 300+ shows and festivals across the UK and Europe. Combining effects pedals, beatboxing and grooving bass lines with traditional instrumentation, powerful vocals and relentless energy that provides tracks with a ‘distinctive and contemporary twist’ and gets people ‘grooving like an apoplectic orang-utan’ (Sound of Confusion).
