About the show
Our annual event to celebrate St Piran's weekend at Calstock Arts. The Countrymen return to the Old Chapel, with their 'Cornish Folk Rock Harmony'. We look forward to two one hours sets with these five local seasoned musicians from Launceston.
A five-piece band featuring tight four-part vocal harmony and strong instrumentation, their style has been likened to Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Eagles.
For this concert tour, they are joined by keyboard player and accordionist, Rob Strike making this a rare opportunity to see The Countrymen as a six-piece.
Primarily performing original songs and their own arrangements of lesser-known contemporary folk, the band’s lyrical inspiration is drawn from life in Cornwall, the demise of local industries and other rural issues that resonate throughout the country. The Countrymen are accomplished performers, engaging the audience with light-hearted banter and back-stories to their songs.

The Countrymen
The Countrymen are a Cornish folk rock harmony group from Launceston. Five seasoned musicians with tight four-part harmony vocals and a token Cornishman. With a relaxed and light-hearted presentation style they take the audience on a journey through the history and culture of Cornwall, featuring their own arrangements of traditional and contemporary songs, as well as original material. Interspersed with the occasional pop cover to lighten the mood when required, there is no mistaking that to a man, they love their county with a passion.
