LARRY – A New Play Celebrating the Life of Larry Grayson
World Premiere | Written by Tim Whitnall

From the Theatre Royal Ramsbottom and Summerseat Players, in collaboration with Feather Productions Ltd. Saturday 14th – Saturday 21st June 2025 (Matinee Sunday 15th June).

Comedy icon, trailblazer, and national treasure: Larry Grayson finally gets the spotlight he deserves in LARRY, a powerful and moving new play making its world premiere at the Theatre Royal Ramsbottom. Written by BAFTA and Olivier Award-winning writer Tim Whitnall (Morecambe, The Best Possible Taste: The Kenny Everett Story), directed by Martin Paul Roche, this bold new production is brought to life by Summerseat Players in association with Feather Productions Ltd.

LARRY charts the extraordinary rise of a man who, by his own admission, “couldn’t sing, dance or act”, yet conquered stage and screen with a uniquely camp and courageous comic voice. From an impoverished childhood and performing on an upturned tin bath, to headlining the BBC’s Generation Game in front of 20 million viewers, Larry Grayson’s story is one of hilarity, heart, and hard-won triumph. But behind the glitter, LARRY uncovers a rich emotional landscape: a complicated love story, the enduring bond with his stepsister, and the painful legacy of growing up gay in a time of criminalisation and stigma.

Playful, poignant, and powerfully relevant, LARRY offers a final curtain call for a man who changed the face of British entertainment.
