The Mine presents: JAHTARI 20 Yeas

We invite you all for the fourth instalment of our daytime event, and this time it's powered by Firmly Rooted Soundsystem - a free family-friendly session before the paid The Mine night at Volks. An event right on the Brighton beachfront taking place on the 4th of July, which is celebrating 20 years of JAHTARI.

Jahtari is a netlabel, founded in 2004 by Jan Gleichmar aka "disrupt". Unlike most netlabels, it focuses on the dub and reggae music genres, with an electronic music approach which it calls "digital laptop reggae". According to The List, "the name is an amalgam of ‘Jah’ and ‘Atari’, and a similar lo-fi 8-bit aesthetic informs their branding and design."

We have invited the label's founder, Disrupt, and acclaimed poet Roger Robinson to headline the session alongside local beatmaker BAY29, local MC and singer Ites Vibration and soundsystem operator Supplya.

With a background in breakcore, weirdo electronic music and a love for video game soundtracks disrupt and a trashy laptop set out on a mission to unite bits and bytes with the goodness of DUB back in 2003.
