‘Acting Legend’ Christopher Chittell BEM is best known for his role as Eric Pollard in the long running ITV soap opera Emmerdale.
Christopher is in fact now the longest-serving cast member in the soap's history.
Christopher was born in Aldershot, Hampshire with his father serving in the Army. At 15 he was spotted by an agent and became a member of the National Theatre then was cast in the film To Sir With Love
Film and TV appearances followed in The Charge of the Light Brigade and If. A starring role followed as one of the Freewheelers, an action/adventure children's serial by Southern Television between 1968 and 1973. A multitude of TV roles followed with Christopher becoming a well-known face on TV. On stage Christopher performed at the Old Vic in Macbeth with Peter O'Toole.
Christopher was awarded the British Empire Medal in the 2019 Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to drama and charity.
