A welcome female addition to the usual boys club of Electronic producers, Bristol based musician, producer and visual artist Kayla Painter has spent the last few years carving a solid reputation herself around Bristol and the South West with her distinctive, layered soundscapes and compositions.

Jilk

Jilk fuses a bewildering collage of home-found sounds with the ambient soundscapes of washy synths, insect-like clicks & cuts, and huge gorgeous waves of all-encompassing experimental noise. A Bristol based collective of musicians firmly rooted in many of the city's alternative artistic scenes, Jilk have always strived through collaboration to be greater than the sum of their parts. Their album 'Joy In The End' was released through Berlin label Project Mooncircle. The album is the collective's most sonically diverse and beautiful collection of compositions to date. Building on the delicate orchestral pop sensibilities of their previous EP; Joy In The End is a truly epic journey through dense waves of glitch, concrete, post rock and heart wrenching melodies. The album has had plays on Radio 1Xtra, BBC 6 and supported by BBC Introducing and it has also been included in 'A Closer Listen's' Top Ten Electronic Albums of 2017, " The album makes a case for hope in a time when hope seems lost: a wonderful statement that seems even more apt at the end of the year."
