The radical and razor-sharp roots of Stick In The Wheel centre around the sounds of their East London heritage, with intricate rustic dobro guitar twisting into electronic dystopian vibes, autotune vocals, and uncompromising raw spoken word that brings marginalised voices into the present. Known for their intense live shows exploring the raw holler of folk, synths, spoken word and intricate guitar fuzz, they present full-force reworkings of centuries-old work-songs with fragments of ancient texts that speak to contemporary issues of class – an inherently political act.
We are delighted to welcome the incredible Stick In The Wheel back to Belfast for an intimate gig at The Sunflower. Space is limited, so get booking!

“A remarkable psychogeographic voyage into a thousand years of London culture” 9/10 UNCUT
“Absolutely brilliant” BBC6 Music
“Powerful – and deeply relatable” Pitchfork

Stick In The Wheel
Four-times BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominated Stick In The Wheel are taking the folk scene by storm with their incendiary performances of traditional English folk music, seamlessly blending it with their own songs and breathing new life into this culture for new generations. They record to the sound of sirens and birdsong in their long-rented East End front rooms: the music is as authentic as it comes, capturing a culture that is rapidly disappearing, and is at times brutally honest and grabbing.
