Jazz in the Church is back in Alsager after 6 years! After 2 successful shows back in 2019, the concert went on to travel around country featuring some of the UK's top Jazz artists. Now we're back in Alsager for a one off Christmas Special at St Mary's!
This concert will feature the vocals of the world renowned and award winning Jazz singer, TJ Johnson.
In this special concert celebrating the great male Jazz and blues singers such as Joe Williams, Big Joe Turner, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra and Jimmy Witherspoon, TJ lays his piano skills to one side and grabs the mic to stand Up Front and belt out some edgy blues, swing some classic standards and croon some plaintive heart rendering ballads and saloon songs.
TJ Johnson
TJ Johnson is widely considered to be one of the UK’s most charismatic highly revered Jazz and Blues singers. He is also a hot piano player and respected bandleader. TJ Sprang on to the Jazz scene in the late 80’s as a jazz singer with Max Collie at the age of 17 and since forming his own band in 1990 has performed extensively for over thirty years now at many Theatres, Festivals and Jazz clubs both in the UK and overseas. An ambassador of the soul, TJ sings songs of love lost and gained, of life wholesome and corrupt, songs of hope and despair, songs of the night, all with the true passion and boozy swagger of only a man who has been there and knows.…
