Ian Bruce is one of the most highly regarded of Scotland's singer-songwriters: a strong and characterful singer and guitarist with a reputation for well-crafted and tuneful songs and a ready rapport with his audience. Over a 40-year career of songwriting, performing and collaborating, he has released numerous critically acclaimed albums, both solo and in partnership with brother Fraser and friend Ian Walker. His live repertoire includes a mixture of traditional and self-penned songs alongside his much-loved musical arrangements of Robert Burns poems.
The Folk of Gloucester is a 500-year-old historic building at the heart of Gloucester. Formerly home to Gloucester Folk Museum, we now operate as an events venue and community hub with all facilities provided.
The cafe and bar will be open for the duration of the event.
Ian Bruce
A fine Scottish singer/songwriter and guitarist who plays traditional expressive folk songs with contemporary influences. He has his audiences singing, laughing and crying. Since the mid 1970’s he has recorded 23 albums covering a broad range of traditional songs - particularly the songs of Robert Burns - as well as numerous self penned songs, many of which have been performed and recorded by other artists. He was one of the singers chosen by Dr Fred Freeman to record an entire collection of Burns songs, and one of his Burns albums was placed second in the list of all time best Burns recordings by the Scotsman.
